The illustrator,
Airlie
Anderson,
is from Carmel, and graduated from Carmel High School before attending the Rhode
Island School of Design. In 2000,
Airlie received her degree in illustration and returned to Carmel where she was
introduced to Larry Hayes, looking for an illustrator for his series of books. My
Name Starts With A is Airlie’s first published work, and a dream come
true for her. She has finished
illustrations for eight other books in the series, B, C, D, J, K, M, R and S and
is working on the illustrations for My Name Starts
With E in San Francisco where she does other
freelance art.
The
author and publisher, Larry
Hayes,
lives in Carmel Valley, California. He is the father of seven who
has always loved to read to his children, who gave him the inspiration to some
day write a book for each of them. The
concept to focus on the first letters of their names was born in 1998, after the
birth of his twins, Gabriel and Nathanael.
Since then Larry has been in the process of writing, photographing, and
designing this series of books, culminating in the publication of My
Name Starts With A in 2003.
Larry
is judge in Monterey County and former partner with the law firm of Fenton & Keller, where in
1980 he commenced practicing law upon his graduation from Santa Clara University
Law School. He had been a deputy sheriff in Ventura County for nearly 10
years before attending law school. He
is self-publishing the books under the business name, Inspire Publications. Larry resides in Carmel Valley with his wife, Lane.
